SC1382 Ancient Historical house in the very heart of Cilento

Via Roma, 15, Lustra, SA, Italia

Details

The tranquil village of Lustra, which winds along the crest of a hill at the foot of Rocca Cilento Castle—a magnificent testimony to one of the most important Baronies once governed by the Dukes of Sanseverino and recently restored with conservation in mind—boasts various historic buildings in its small center. Among these stands out an ancient residence on Via Roma: a rectangular-shaped palazzo with an open courtyard in the center, likely once serving as an important administrative dependency of the Castle.
The real estate agency Soluzione Casa offers for sale part of this palazzo, the main and most extensive section, U-shaped and spread over two levels totaling approximately 295 square meters: spacious storage rooms/cellars on the ground floor, and the main living quarters on the first floor.
The west wing is the longest, and as you ascend from the village road, it showcases the typical characteristics of Cilento residences: a long terrace known as a loggia with traditional arches opening onto storage areas, all bordered by a high wall. The loggia faces four large rooms with high ceilings, wooden beams, floors with well-preserved hexagonal tiles in various colors, and from the terrace, you can enjoy a marvelous view of the Castle and the surrounding valleys.
To the left of the loggia, on the north side, is the area intended for servants, accessible from the kitchen by a staircase leading up to the attic where there is a wood-fired oven for baking bread! The garden visible to the left of the loggia is partially privately owned.
On the left side of the loggia lies the formal area, a stunning and spacious south-facing hall known as the “gallery.” Additionally, there is a large kitchen, a dining room, another bedroom, and various hallways.
The main entrance on the south side consists of a paved hallway with large stones and two steps. A large ceiling arch separates it from an open-air courtyard, where on one side, a masonry staircase leads to the first-floor entrances, and on the other side, a well covered in ivy, which used to serve as a summer refrigerator. Various storage rooms open off this hallway, and in the basement, there is a storage room/cellar.
Completing this already abundant property is a plot of land measuring 5,087 square meters, which, according to cadastral records, also includes a semi-ruined building of 60 square meters.
